Jamie A. Hughes is a lifelong student and teacher devoted to the
study of the written word. She has earned a Master's Degree in
English from the University of North Florida and plans to continue
work on her Ph.D. in the near future. As an academic writer, she has
been published in Peake Studies, The Journal of Evolutionary
Psychology, and The Journal of Popular Culture . She currently
teaches English and composition courses at Florida Community
College at Jacksonville and edits for Double Dragon Publishing, an
Internet-based publisher of fantasy/sci-fi novels and anthologies.
In addition to her studies, she is also addicted to creative writing.
Her poetry, short fiction, and essays have been published in
several student journals as well as Odradek, Fiction Fix , Shout
them From the Mountaintops, Voicesnet, Gin Bender Poetry Review,

Depth of Vision: Jamie Hughes
-a baby, Maistra, is born to a peasant woman. It is found that Maistra is endowed with
psionic abilities. A kind nobleman discovers and pays for the lass' skills. But her skills
are soon discovered by the enemy, who takes Maistra’s mother hostage. Maistra
ventures forth to save her mother and at the same time, saves the noble’s kingdom.
